Quick update: the problem is limited to recipes that have already been submitted to a contest in the past. Existing recipes that have never been entered into a contest work as do new recipes. Our developer is on the job trying to find a fix for these situations. We'll let you know as soon as a solution has been found.
I was able to enter an existing recipe: go to your recipe and go to the edit function. At the bottom of that page, there is the option to enter it to a contest. :-)
Hi Amanda. You're so nice (and perhaps an insomniac) for answering this question mid-maelstrom. I want to enter Little Apricot Confections into this contest. Sending lots of (positive) energy for the next few weeks. You all are amazing.
I can hear you -- no need to shout. :) What doesn't work -- adding a recipe and clicking the box to add it to the contest? Or are you not even seeing that box?

As far as entering a real contest - when you enter your recipe, it asks you that question? If you want to enter a previous recipe into a new contest? Not sure.
Not sure if you'll be able to see this but on the image I attached it shows the box on the recipe entry form that asks about entering it in a contest. As for recipes that you've previously posted but want to add to a contest, that is currently not possible. It will be but it's not. If you let us know which recipe, we may be able to do it manually.
Here is the contest -- we just announced it today I believe. http://www.food52.com/contests/261_your_best_holiday_confection For now, to enter you'll need to add a recipe and select the contest entry box in the recipe form. A fix for the contest page is in the works.
