Thank you. Tofu is just a good filler for any sort of flavors and of course deep frying makes it even better! I bet it would be equally good with indian flavors and spices...in fact a bit of curry spices in the broth would be great.

Thanks so much ~ I love the "complex multi layered pagoda of flavors" - ha! It definitely felt that way when I was halfway through. It is funny that every other time I strive to make a simple meal, I end up with one like this. But we enjoyed it so much it was worth it. And I gave up on not cooking in the heat. Raw salady things can only get me so far and this drought-y heat wave is far from done.

What a complex multi layered pagoda of flavors. you deserve big prize for this one, imo! Love the use of bacon and dried shrimp to counter the sweetness of the corn.Thx so much; looking for this heat wave to pass (boston) so i can make this soon!
