Coquito (which means small coconut) is a traditional holiday drink in Puerto Rico. I am Cuban but my mohter got this recipe from a Puerto Rican friend and has been making it every year for Christmas and New Years. At one point she had people wanting to buy the bottles from her. I should caution you it is a very addictive drink and not so easy on the waistline. —Martica

Ingredients
  • 1 cup of white rum (I use Bacardi Coco to enchance the coconut flavor)
  • 1 can of condensed milk
  • 1 can of evaporated milk
  • 1 can of cream of coconut (I use Coco Lopez)
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
Directions
  1. Mix all of the ingredients in a blender for about 3-4 minutes.
  2. Pour into glass bottles.
  3. Refrigerate overnight.
  4. Enjoy!

There are no calories that count on Christmas...right? I had something like this in Cuba and it was so delicious...like a milkshake...there was alcohol involved?...really?

Hard to believe but yes Rum is involved. My mom made some for our Christmas Eve dinner and it was delicious!

I had this drink recently, and it is delicious. Scary to think about the calorie count looking at the recipe!

The trick is to serve it ice cold and in very small servings this way you don't feel like you are taking too many calories at one time ;)
