10 Cold-Weather Frozen Desserts

March 11, 2015

There's a list of things most of us think they can't enjoy until warmer months roll around. It includes:

  • Iced coffee
  • The beach
  • Ripe tomatoes
  • Outdoor picnics
  • Ice cream

We over here at Food52 are still drinking iced coffee -- some would say rather foolishly, but hey, the heart wants what the heart wants. The beach will have to wait, unless, of course, you’re going on vacation. (Take us with you!) Ripe tomatoes? Not a chance, we’ll wait for August. Picnics? The kind where you can spread out a blanket under the sun and wiggle your toes in the grass? It's going to be a little while yet. Ice cream, though? Here’s a little secret -- you can have ice cream all year long. What’s a little ice cream to your icicle fingers and toes? It’s even better if you wrap yourself in a huge blanket, preferably in front of a roaring fire, close your eyes, and pretend that your dripping cone is caused by the warmth of the beating sun. And that you’re at the beach.

Make these 10 ice cream recipes now, before summer's berries and stone fruits turn your attention away from their charms.

Let's have dinner sometime. There will be champagne and ice cream for sure; everything else is up in the air.
