Meet the Grand Master of Lunches: Grana Padano

We've partnered with Legends from Europe to learn more about authentically-produced Italian hams and cheeses.

Today: It's all about the great Grana Padano.

It's not every day we get to have lunch with chef and former Top Chef contestant Fabio Viviani. But when he visited our offices, we did just that and, oh, was it grand. (Side note: Fabio, please come back. We miss you.) Catch a glimpse of our lunch in action in the video below:

It was especially memorable because Fabio brought a block of Grana Padano and proceeded to cook with it every which way: grating it over pasta, putting it into salad, drizzling hunks of the cheese with balsamic vinegar, and pairing it with mushrooms. And the lesson he learned that day was: If you bring us cheese, we'll be friends with you. Period.

Grana Padano is a bad alternative to Parmigiano Reggiano for the method of production and the quality of ingredients. I love you Food52 and the ideas proposed by Viviani are super.. but the guest star not so much :)
