I've had this before (years ago, way back in undergrad) when some grad students in the lab I worked brought some in. I didn't know what it was, but I LOVED it. I still get cravings for kaju barfi, it's just so uniquely good. Fudge is not a good comparison for all the reasons the article says: too sweet, too fatty, too much of both. Kaju barfi is its own, delicious thing. They're also rich but somehow lighter, more mellow, and the richness and sweetness balance out.

Thank you for your beautiful and melancholy story. Beautifully written and evocative--I am so sorry for your father's illness and wish you and your family strength and peace.

We were just yesterday talking about kaju barfi- I miss it so much! In recent years I've been building up my Indian food repetoire, but have yet to master any desserts. So very nostalgic for Indian sweets, especially this weekend x

This article made me so nostalgic for Edison - I grew up there, not more than 10 minutes away from Oak Tree Road, and am so familiar with everything that you talk about in this article. Talk about memories of home.
I haven't had kaju barfi in years, and I forgot how much I've missed it. It's my favorite Indian dessert.
Diwali greetings, to you!
