Memories Made at This Year's Holiday Market

December  5, 2016

Our Holiday Market was last weekend and, man, was the place buzzing. The hot honey was flowing, the gifts were a-shining, and we might have heard Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You" upwards of 200 times. We loved meeting our community, recommending presents for the hardest-to-shop-fors, and having you in our test kitchen.

One minute our test kitchen, the next, our Holiday Market!

If you weren't able to make it, don't worry! You can live vicariously through our captured memories (and visit our Holiday Market Shop page, where you can see all the treasures we had on display). Hope to see you next year!

Our favorite moments? Well...

Seeing Our Shop Come to Life

We had over 400 of our Shop treasures on display for our guests to ooh and aah over. Our Art Director, Alexis Anthony, decked out the space with twinkly lights, garlands galore, and all the touches that made it feel like home—from a table all set and ready for a feast, to a stovetop full of favorite cookware.

The light streaming in from 26th street added an extra shimmer to our Chelsea glass juicer and mixing bowls.
Our exclusive Staub color combo (blue & brass) couldn't have shone any brighter.
A cozy corner transformed into a Christmas dream (if only we could have a real fire in the fireplace!).

Crafting the Day Away

The sleeper hit of the weekend: our DIY Gift Card station. Our guests couldn't get enough of the stamps, printed tape, and baubles to decorate their own gift tags for this year's presents. It also served as a welcome respite amidst the hum of the busy market.

Craft supplies ready and waiting for the hordes to descend.
Eager crafters stamping to their heart's content.
It was the most popular spot of the weekend!

That Bed!

The whole Market was drop-dead gorgeous but the spot that made us giddy? The bed Alexis cozied up with our Hawkins New York linen sheets and piles of pillows and throws. It took everything we had to not take a little nap in there.

Doesn't it look inviting? It's made up with linen sheets and blankets from Hawkins New York.

Meeting Our Community (That's You!)

Our Marketing Coordinator, Catherine O'Donnell greets guests right off the elevator.
Buyer Kristina Wasserman and Director of Events Kate Kudish chatting cookware with a guest.

The GIR lids were a popular item and Meghan Murray, our Assistant Buyer, was happy to explain them to an interested party.

The Tastings & Demos

Gin Lane 1751 mixed up cocktails with their namesake product.
Especially Puglia handed out samples of their olive oil (which just happens to be one of our Shop's best sellers of the year) and their tapenades, straight outta Italy.
Brooklyn Brew Shop provided some holiday beer cheer, handing out samples of their Chocolate Maple Porter, Grapefruit Honey Ale, and Oatmeal Stout. They chatted up thirsty shoppers about their brew-your-own beer kits, too.
Fan favorite Mike's Hot Honey was on the scene, drizzling their spicy sweet nectar on Detroit-style pizza. We weren't mad about it.
Our very own test kitchen chef Josh Cohen dazzled crowds with his knife skills demo (using our Zwilling Pro and Miyabi knives).
My Sweet came in to introduce their Brigadeiros, a traditional Brazilian sweet made with condensed milk, cocoa, and butter. We were in love.

Also joining the party were Sohha, RISE cold brew coffee, Bushwick Kitchen, and Owl's Brew. We may have had one too many of those little spoonfuls of Gochujang Sriracha... but it's always fun to meet the makers behind some of our favorite pantry staples.

Whew. It was a lot to pack in three days but it was totally worth it; The Holiday Market was another one for the books. Now begins the countdown until next year...

We attended on Saturday, and it was fun and delicious and beautiful. Lovely to see the space, to meet the people our son works with, and to do a little shopping. SO MANY lovely useful things I'd love to buy! Happy Holidays to all of you at Food52!
