Recipe Contests are Back! (And Better Than Ever)

We partnered with our friends at Natural Delights, purveyors of Medjool dates, for our latest contest—Your Best Recipe with Dates.

When you think of dates (and no, not that kind of date—come on!), does sweet come to mind? Well, of course it does! Dates are sweet. They're at home in chocolate cake, in smoothies and shakes, and granola.

But dates can do more. Their caramel-like sweetness is a good match for things like spiced chicken and olive oil and sea salt. They take to goat cheese kindly, too (like these citrusy, stuffed Medjool dates topped with spiced pecans). So we want to know: What's your best recipe with dates? And while we appreciate the sweet, we're really interested in how you can turn dates savory. We're looking for recipes from anywhere and everywhere—to see how dates are used around the world.

Also, a note: As you may have noticed, we took a little break from our recipe contests. This was to focus on our contest page's new look (we know you were waiting for it for a long time!), and how we can make contests bigger, better, and more exciting for you—including offering a bigger prize for the winner. We're taking a step back to hold contests quarterly so each and every contest can be the best it can be—and so we can feature your recipes more thoughtfully and uncover the stories we believe many good recipes tell. (Our last contest was just gearing up for this—see these cherry bars lost in wartime and one grandma's beloved carrot cake.)
