We partnered with our friends at Natural Delights, purveyors of Medjool dates, for our latest contest—Your Best Recipe with Dates.

When you think of dates (and no, not that kind of date—come on!), does sweet come to mind? Well, of course it does! Dates are sweet. They're at home in chocolate cake, in smoothies and shakes, and granola.

But dates can do more. Their caramel-like sweetness is a good match for things like spiced chicken and olive oil and sea salt. They take to goat cheese kindly, too (like these citrusy, stuffed Medjool dates topped with spiced pecans). So we want to know: What's your best recipe with dates? And while we appreciate the sweet, we're really interested in how you can turn dates savory. We're looking for recipes from anywhere and everywhere—to see how dates are used around the world.

Head to the contest page to enter your date recipes. One lucky winner will receive $500 to our Shop.

“One of my greatest frustrations when it comes to contests is where to find out how to be a recipe tester for a specific contest. Is that still a thing? Where I should look for the sign ups is just not intuitive to me. If it could be pretty please be made more obvious (like a link on the specific contest page or the contest news page) that would be lovely. HELP!”

Also, a note: As you may have noticed, we took a little break from our recipe contests. This was to focus on our contest page's new look (we know you were waiting for it for a long time!), and how we can make contests bigger, better, and more exciting for you—including offering a bigger prize for the winner. We're taking a step back to hold contests quarterly so each and every contest can be the best it can be—and so we can feature your recipes more thoughtfully and uncover the stories we believe many good recipes tell. (Our last contest was just gearing up for this—see these cherry bars lost in wartime and one grandma's beloved carrot cake.)

New to our contests? Head here to learn a little more about them!

Great to know. I was wondering what was going on with the contests for quite a while and there hadn't been any updates about it.

I can't figure out how to enter my recipe for the current contest.

I guess you'll want to update the "About our Contests" page too? It still says contests will post every other Monday.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention! We will update it as soon as we can.
