I made this today for my own birthday cake, and it came out great! I used forms & made it into a double-layer cake. The cake was a bit dense and very rich. But this was my very first time baking a cake so I am more than pleased. Born & raised in NC, I've always loved coke & peanuts. But it's become one of my go-to snacks after moving to Europe last year. I decided to give my Norwegian family a taste of it in the form of a dessert :) They all gave great compliments even though they don't typically eat cakes this sweet. But I think the saltiness did a good job of cutting through all the sugar. The frosting was PBlicious (see what I did there?) I have so much frosting left over... might have to make cupcakes!

I love peanuts with Coke but my favorite is Red Pop with peanuts, truely delicious.

Chris Lloyd, you can use caffeine free Coca-Cola in the recipe. There is caffeine in chocolate however, so the recipe might not be a good one for you. Linda

Can you substitute a diet cola? Say to help out diabetics?

Hi Beth! I imagine a diet cola vs. a regular cola wouldn't make much of a difference to the cake's texture. I'm no dietician, but just wanted to point out that this recipe still calls for dark brown sugar, powdered sugar, and smooth peanut butter (which usually has added sugar).

Iโm from Texas and when we were kids, we did drink Coke with peanuts. We saw our uncle drinking it that way once so we had to try it! It was surprisingly delicious!!! ๐
