These are some good jackets.
However, I know some awesome kind of Nehru Jackets for this festive season.
Which will also be some good options.

I am originally from rajasthan and your story reminded me of how my bf’s life and mine differed....where he hardly ever had a meal together with his family and me enjoying and growing up in India and having every meal with my parents of course they may end up being on the streets. We have now been together for over 15 years and His love for food and connection you make while eating is now pretty ingrained. It is not uncommon for him to call me while I am traveling for work Half way across the world where I am eating dinner at a restaurant and him having coffee and us just chatting away....
He had the pleasure of finally (two years ago) experiencing the wonders of meandering the streets of jodhpur with my Mother, father and I and experiencing the array of street food together. The smile he had on is face that day is something I will remember for rest of my life.

This story of this persons journey with food and much more, family
What a gift to see yourself and what you love and write about it in such a great way.. my heart and the absolute love I have for the art of creating love with food is so inspired by this sharing of a time in a place with family and the culture.. I wanna go there and visit the same place , the foreign food market..
I think this is the real soul food.

Food has always been the glue that held our little family together. We moved away from our home in Canada with our two young daughters to live overseas for 12 years. Faced with different cultures and languages, we each became each others best friend. This friendship was cultivated by exploring he wonderful dishes of each country we lived in, to both eat and cook. Fast forward 20 years and my husband and I are back in Canada, with one daughter in the southern United States and the other in Canada, but a different city than us. Both with fulfilling family lives. We don't gather as a family to eat at the same table very often any more, but like you, Christine, we always eat together. Exchanging recipes, tips and advice (one daughter is a professional chef!) and expressing our love of each other through good food. The glue still holds.

I love the idea of "eating together" through exchanging recipes, tips and advice. You are right, showing love through food remains even if space separates us. Thanks for sharing Jacqueline!

I'm 4 states away from my parents and often call on my way home in the evening- and interrupting them at dinner. I find it vaguely horrifying that they even *answer* the phone when they're eating dinner, and even more shocking that they stay on the phone with me for my 15 minute drive home. Thank you- I didn't realize until now that this is how they encourage me to eat with them, even when we're 800 miles apart.

Ok, I'll admit it... your comment made made me a bit weepy. Especially during this time, it is so nice to know that we can share a meal together, even if it is over the telephone. I know I'll be just like your parents one day, willing to chat on the phone for an entire dinner just to connect with my kids! xx

What a beautiful and thoughtful piece, Christine! We need to let go of our preconceived notions and go with the flow and more importantly enoy the flow! Your piece propogates enjoying the flow, the appeal of which is timeless. Your book & the photos in it look glorious.
