If you know us, you know we love Dansk, the heritage brand that we added to the Food52 family in 2021. Adored by collectors and our community, Dansk helped popularize the mid-century modern look in America through its streamlined, stylish household goods designed by Danish artist, Jens Quistgaard. You’re probably very familiar with one of his collections: the boldly colored Købenstyle line of cookware and pitchers. These became instant best sellers—and props for stars like Sarah Jessica Parker—when we reissued the collection with new and limited-edition colors.

Now, we’re excited to announce a brand-new assortment of Dansk classics in our Shop, perfect for holiday gifting and setting your table, Scandinavian-style. These new Dansk reissues are all based upon Jens's original designs, and include pieces that will make entertaining more magical this season, from teak salad bowls and pepper mills to iconic candle holders. Here are a few of the time-tested pieces you’ll want to add to your growing Dansk collection—we’re pretty sure you’ll be just as smitten with them as we are.

Light the Way

We reissued five new candle holders from Dansk’s original, 1960s Design With Light collection, and it will be hard to choose just one to light up your mantle or table. The Fiesta Candle Holder, Lotus Candle Holder, and Clover Holder are all made of sturdy cast iron with room for tiny taper candles. These slender tapers also fit the more traditional Classic Brass Candle Holders and the Silver Onion Candle Holders that can tilt without toppling over—a pretty party trick.

Copper for your Kitchen

We’ve brought back Jens’ 1960s take on the classic French copper pot, made to withstand the demands of modern cooking. Choose from the quick-heating JHQ Copper Stock Pot or the 2- or 3.5-quart JHQ Copper Casserole, all made with an unlacquered copper exterior that develops a lovely patina over time.

Teak for Your Table

The all-new teak salad bowls and serving boards in our latest drop are made from staved teak, a sustainable process that joins multiple pieces of wood together, much like a wine barrel. The result? Striking serving pieces that are built for generations of entertaining. Choose from the Ellipse Teak Salad Bowl, the Brim Teak Salad Bowl, the Slope Teak Salad Bowl, the Fan Teak Serving Board and the End-Grain Teak Party Board, which has a lipped bowl for snacks on one end and a flat, end-grain surface for cutting on the other.

“Absolutely love the Generation Mist brown! My mother bought for me years ago. I would love more of the large mugs, my kids fight over the only 5 I have left. Over prob 30 years I never broke any has held up beautifully! However my darling eldest son (now 50) as a teenager drank hot tea and was attempting to bring 5 or 6 empty mugs out of his room and had a catastrophe dropping all of them on our ceramic tile floors. I think at that time they had already been discontinued so I was never able to replace them. So please consider remaking them!!!”

Jens Quistgaard also famously created a vast collection of teak pepper mills that avid fans collect and catalog (there is both a site and a book dedicated to their designs). This 1962 Dansk pepper mill, named for its resemblance to an apple core, is our first reissue—look for more to follow in 2024.

I wish you would bring back the stainless Dansk cookware. I purchased two pieces when they were being discontinued and now they are two of my favorites!!

Still waiting on the Dansk oblong meat cutting boards to come back. They have a trough all around to catch drippings and direct them to a well on the end. Came in two sizes. I bought the smaller one and would love to buy the bigger one that was offered about 30 years ago please.

Thanks, Rosemarie! I've shared your request with the team—it sounds like a perfect piece for us to reissue.
