Piece of Cake blog is Shauna Sever Webb’s outlet for indulging her sweet tooth cravings. Webb did not grow up licking the cake batter off of her mother’s well-worn wooden spoon -- she was a child of the late 70s with a modern-woman kind of mother who could cook but did not especially care to bake. Instead, Webb learned to bake from scratch only after she got married and received a slew of extraordinary kitchen gear as gifts.
Today, almost three years into her blog, she rarely remembers what she ate for dinner but always remembers dessert and bakes a few times a week (putting her stamp on the classics), always with her toddler daughter at her side. Webb also daydreams of a long loud lunch with her baking inspirations: Ina Garten, Lynne Rossetto Kasper, Shirley Corriher, Christopher Kimball and Nick Malgieri.
On her blog Webb shares recipes for desserts and other baked goods that are, as she says, “uncomplicated and crave-worthy—little twists on the familiar with superior texture or depth of flavor that keep you wanting one more bite.” Check out her Totally Perfect Vanilla Marshmallows, Chocolate Chip Marble Bundt Cake and Homemade Graham Crackers. A warning: it could be dangerous to read her blog anytime before noon.
