Keeping it simple: you can eat them out of hand. I was dubious, but you can, just crunch them between your molars to crack them open so that the nutrition is available. Another -- put them in a smoothie; chances are a blender or food processor won't 'grind' them, but the chia seeds will thicken and stabilize the drink.
