I agree with sdebrango. One exception is basil, which I find does poorly in the refrigerator. I cut the bottoms of the stems off to give a new surface, put them in a glass of water, and keep them on the counter. Sometimes, the stalks put out roots, and if they do, the basil can keep for a long time.
I store them in the fridge with the stems in a glass of water or wrap in paper towel and store in the veggie and fruit bin of the refrigerator. Both ways seem to work for me to maximize how long the herbs stay fresh.
