Does a Food Saver unit work any better than the grocery store freezer bags that you can extract the air from? Seem to get lots of ice inside

I'm on my 2nd Food Saver unit. I never would have been able to get through my CSA without one! It's great for raw meat, fish etc. I also make large batches of soups and stews, freeze them in single servings, pop them out of the plastic ware, then vacuum seal. Don't forget to label w/ date. Highly recommend.

I have used my vacuum sealer for over 10
years. Wouldn't be without one!

A food saver is great for saving foods. The 'ice' you are finding on your frozen foods in bags is from the air left in the bag. A food saver sucks out all the air - it's really a great tool for saving foods for a longer period of time. I use mine all time for meats (especially smoked / cooked meats). You won't find ice in your food-saved bags.

Yes, I buy bulk meats from Costco and put serving size into a vacuum bag and viola'... it will be fresh after 6 months in the freezer.

We have a Food Saver and it works much better than anything else. Love it!
