Chestnuts

I am looking for tried and true methods to easily (ha!) peel away the shells and clean the membranes from fresh chestnuts.
Thank you.

Using the base of your knife blade, cut a half inch cut into the base of each chestnut. Then you can bake. Or make sure it is a deep cut (3/4 around the whole chestnut) for the microwave, or they will explode, but a minute to 2 will be enough.

I boil chestnuts to cook them. I have found from experience that chest nuts are much easier to peel when they are still hot.
