Sour cream dinner rolls

Can I substitute wheat bran for the wheat germ? Or would it be better to leave it out? I burnt it while trying to toast it. Also do I really not need to soak the active dry yeast in water first?

Yes you can substitute wheat barn for wheat germ. You do need to soak the yeast in warm water - it helps activate the yeast
