The recipe " Triple Chocolate Madness Cookies" calls for 1 cup of semi sweet chocolate. How do I measure that?

1 cup of chocolate chips I understand but 1 cup of chocolate ? It's solid. I'm confused !

I just checked a package of Nestle's Semi-sweet Morsels -- which lists 2 c. as 12 oz. So half a 12-oz. pkg., or 6 oz., should be 1 c.

Or 8oz = 1 cup

That's for liquid measurement, more specifically water. For solids, 1 cup can vary a lot from 8oz, depending on the density of the solid.

Chop up some semi-sweet chocolate and put it into a dry measuring cup. Or, you could use semi-sweet chocolate chips. Measure them the same way. Easy, huh?
