I know this isn't a "pickle" question, but after reading everyone's delicious-sounding pickles over the past few days, I'm just dying to know: What's on your Thanksgiving menu?

I am in charge of the turkey (brined in apple cider, bourbon, thyme, rosemary, sage), pumpkin roll, and sweet potato pie. My cooking-hating mother has, for some reason, decided to take over Thanksgiving this year and is making sauteed brussels sprouts & green beans with bacon, stuffing, corn pudding, sweet potato casserole, carrot souffle. I teased her about the overabundance of orange dishes and she gave me a dirty look. She also insisted on buying gravy in a jar.

I'm doing all the cooking except for desserts: curried cream of cauliflower & apple soup, turkey, sausage/mushroom/bread stuffing, yam/banana puree, marscapone & roasted garlic mashed potatoes, butternut squash & mushroom wellington, and broccoli-cauliflower-bacon gratin.

We're going small this year, so I am refraining my usual cook-a-thon. Twelve-pounder with cornbread stuffing, steamed asparagus, mashed taters for the kids, "sweet potatoes with ginger for loulou" (posted here on food52), homemade creamed pearl onions (first time, we'll see) with lots of Alsatian Gewurztraminer (thank you spell check). But what I am really looking forward to is my homemade pear sorbet with cognac and my ginger ice cream. I always save the pumpkin pie for breakfast the next day. . .
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

I'm cooking everything since we live in NYC and our family is flying in. I'm making Citrus Marinated Turkey, Mashed Potatoes + Pan Gravy, a sort of deconstructed healthy green bean casserole, glazed asparagus + carrots, Stuffing (stovetop), stuffed mushrooms, whole wheat brioche rolls, pumpkin tiramisu and a plate of antipasto appetizers. phew. I should get off the computer. ;) Happy Thanksgiving!

I do not like turkey, so I am going to make a roast, slow cooked in my crock pot with veggies. Sure is good to be different! ;-)
