Yes you can make it one day in advance (I wouldn't do more than that). Let it cool completely, then cover well with plastic wrap.
Late to the party but....you can make it up to 3 days in advance. You have two options for storage - fridge and deep freezer. I actually prefer the cake when its a day old! Both ways, wrap in up nicely in cling film/glad wrap and then store.
