Probably not necessary, you could just roll and cut the tortilla dough into chip shapes and bake a bit longer. Flip halfway through baking and don’t forget to salt them
I don't see how that could work- the rolled out masa is quite fragile until cooked. Possibly you could use a very sharp knife and cut through the parchment (or whatever you use- plastic is more usual), and use that to help handle the dough, but I think it would be a real pain.

First buy or make & bake your torillas (corn or wheat flour).
Then cut in wedges and deep fry or bake, to use as chips.
