I usually bring cut up veggies as well as sandwich makings like sliced lunch meat and bread (and I grab some to go mayo and other condiments from gas stations - shhhh!). Agree on nuts and dried fruit. Mostly I try to not have to rely too much on eating at restaurants because you might end up in a food wasteland!
