I am putting a berry pie in the oven. I'm afraid it's going to boil over. Can I just put foil underneath, or is that a bad idea?

A sheet pan is the best choice that way you won't have to worry about spilling when taking out of oven.

I just put the pie plate on a baking sheet.

Line the backing sheet with parchment or foil. Cleaning that baked in pie filling off the baking sheet is NO fun!

Use a cookie sheet or
Rimmed baking pan
With a Silpat or piece of parchment on it for extra easy clean up

Put a cookie tray underneath it to catch the juices.

It is a great idea. don't know if you have gas or electric stove, and you may want to consider putting a cookie sheet or pizza pan covered in aluminum foil on the lowest rack under the pie.
