When a recipe calls of 1 1/2 tablespoon, is it
A) 1 tablespoon + 1/2 of another tablespoon OR
B) 1 tablespoon + 1/2 teaspoon?

It's A. 1 TBS=3 tsp so it is 1 TBS plus 1.5 tsp. I usually just dip my TBS halfway into solids or for liquids, I figured out long ago how much 1.5 tsp fills my TBS. Just handier than using all three measuring spoons.
The equivalent is 4 1/2 teaspoons. The correct answer above is A, but since most measuring spoons don't include a 1/2 Tablespoon, I'd go with the 4.5 teaspoons (standard set includes 1/2 teaspoon).
