Im making choc fudge cake and ive noticed ive got dark muscovado sugar instead of light does this matter?

Dark muscovado is pretty molassas-y in flavor, it might be too bitter with a dark chocolate cake. I think I'd go with white sugar and add a tablespoon or two of molassas to the batter.
