A question about a recipe: Chocolate Dump-It Cake

I have a question about the recipe "Chocolate Dump-It Cake" from Amanda Hesser. I'm using the icing for birthday cupcakes and I'd like to make the icing the day before and ice the cupcakes the day of. Would the icing hold in the fridge and then be brought back to room temp? Not certain it would soften again??
