If they're frozen, they are most likely already cooked, so a dip in some boiling water (with a sieve/strainer for a easy removal) for a minute or two should be fine. Obviously depends on the dish you're making, but either way, no prolonged cooking necessary here. You can even just let them defrost at room temp. in a colander over a bowl; should only take 15-20 minutes.
Lima beans are merely blanched, not cooked, before they are frozen. My frozen lima bean package says to simmer them 12-16 minutes until they are tender. That's the way I cook them.
