I freeze pizza dough all the time. I think the recipe I use says it lasts up to 3 months in the freezer. I freeze it in balls wrapped in plastic wrap and then defrost by placing an unwrapped ball in a lightly oiled bowl, covering it with plastic wrap and leaving it in the fridge overnight.

Are you speaking of pizza dough? Bread dough?

The simple answer is yes, I freeze "dough" all the time. The next question is what kind of dough do the want to freeze? If you're freezing cookie dough, you may want to portion it out first. For pie dough, I'll sometimes roll it out first then freeze for later.
