I want to use cardamom instead of nutmeg in a cake. Is it a straight swap measurement wise?

I would agree. A little bit of nutmeg goes a long way as does a little bit of cardamom.

Sure. Both are relatively strongly flavored spices so I think a direct swap with be fine.

Thanks! I am changing the flavor profile of a fruit cake I am making and didn't want to chance a mistake with so many ingredients involved.
