If your local store doesn't carry this variety, I'd just use serrano chile, which is in most grocery stores, at least near me.

It's a medium hot (50-100,000 Scoville units) chili, small & ted if I remember rightly. If you can't find it use less of a hotter chili, e.g.scotch bonnet, in 100-350,000 scoville range; or more of a Mulder chili, e.g. cayenne, in the 30-50,000 Scoville range.

It's also known as a Thai chili in some places. It can be red or green.
