I am making honeycomb candy but whenever I get to the point to add the baking soda the mixture turns brown and becomes burnt. Anyone have any tips?

It might help if you post your recipe so we can see what's going on. Honeycomb can be tricky, but a few thoughts
- are you pulling the pan off the heat before you add the baking soda?
- are you using a candy thermometer and have you checked if it's accurate? just a couple of degrees can make a big difference.
- make sure you are mixing the baking soda just a few strokes to incorporate it, and then pour it out of the pot immediately, otherwise it continues to heat from the pan and can scorch
Hope that helps.
