moong does not fit the physical definition of the lentils (the convex lens/disc shaped). they look like miniature tic tacs (dare I say it, 'minion' shaped) and dark green with the skin ad a light shade of yellow when skinned. this is what the skinned split ones look like (after being hydrated)
