The only thing that wouldn't work is a recipe that wants you to start with cold butter. You should be fine.

Same here. I keep my butter on my counter. You are perfectly fine.

Yes, and depending on what you are baking you might actually want it at a soft room temperature.

I actually never refrigerate my butter—it lasts for several days on the counter. You can still bake with it tomorrow morning!
