I'm in the middle of cooking tamales and there mushy on the top still but cooked on the bottom . there covered so the water doesn't drip on them . how can I get the rest to cook througly

Did you cover them with a wet towel during the steaming process? If so, you just need to uncover them and let them rest until they firm up. As they cool they should set
Hint: You probably already have a few in yours, too.
