Can I cut a very large sweet potato in half to bake it?

And this advice isn't exclusive for sweet potatoes. Any root vegetable that you might roast whole can also be roasted in smaller pieces.

Potatoes, rutabagas, turnips, carrots, onions, beets, etc.
