Yes, if you don't have ingredients or means to make pesto from scratch.
But note..,
This recipe uses cashew cream in its pesto instead of Parmesan and pignoli.
Commercial Genoese Pesto will likely have both.

Also this recipe doesn't contain olive oil which will also be In Store bought pesto as well as salt and pepper. Proceed carefully

Yes, you can use pesto from a jar. When you have some extra time, you might try it making homemade pesto, especially now that basil is prolific and in-season. If you do find the time, I'd try making this recipe again and compare the flavor from jarred pesto to homemade pesto. Oftentimes I find my homemade efforts far exceed store bought, however it's nice to have choices. Best of luck, Trisha!
