A question about a recipe: Chocolate Torte with Almonds and Sea Salt

I have a question about the recipe "Chocolate Torte with Almonds and Sea Salt " from Alice Medrich. Odd question, where does the egg yolk/sugar mixture go? They tell you to set it aside but then don't tell you what to do with them after that? Do they go into the chocolate mixture before the egg whites perhaps?

In Step 3, the sugar and egg yolks are mixed into the chocolate. In step 4, the chocolate mixture (including yolks and sugar) is folded into the egg whites.
