Do you rinse canned black beans or not? What if they are flavored (chili or jalepeno)?

After thinking about this, it depends on the beans. If they are 'flavored' beans, don't rinse. Regular beans, without flavor, rinse.

Just used them last night--a can of seasoned black beans. I rinse them using a large strainer; I just dump them in and run some cold water over them. I can still taste the seasoning, and there's no unpleasant pasty goo. This also cuts down on some gassiness.

Depends on what I'm making. Bean salad, rinse. Chili or soup usually not. When I'm making Sloppy Joes I add a can of Chili Beans without rinsing. The liquid adds a nice extra flavor. I've tried it with rinsing the beans and it washed away the chili flavor. BB

I rinse to get rid of the 'goo' and any extra salt. For quick and easy flavored beans, I just heat up the black beans with some salsa. I almost always have salsa on hand so it's easy to do.

I don't. I add some of the liquid to the dish (vegetarian chili). Having said that, though, I don't use the canned ones that often; I start from dried beans.
If I were making a bean salad, I probably would drain and rinse them though.

I do- like Aargersi, I Avoid flavored types. You lose some color with rinsing, but the indigestible proteins that cause flatulence are water soluble while the nutritional ones are not, so all in all it makes for a more comfortable experience.

I do, the can goo is kind of gross - buut I never buy flavored ones, I do that part myself (blank canvas and all) incidentally I bought a (space taking, single use !!!!) can colander at BB&B that makes draining and rinsing lots easier!!!
