When a recipe calls for foil when baking spaghetti, what do I do if I do not have foil?

You can bake it in a shallow-ish skillet or sauté pan that has a lid. The function of the foil is to keep the moisture in and prevent the top from browning too quickly. A lidded pan would do the same thing. It's also not a good idea to cook something so acidic with aluminum foil in contact with it....its doable, but not a good idea. If you do use foil as a lid for a tomato sauce, put a sheet of parchment paper in between.

You can wet a piece of parchment paper and cover the dish, scrunch the sides. It won't be air tight but it will keep moisture in. Plus nothing sticks to it

Here are six options:

1.) Use something flat like a cookie sheet or an appropriately sized plate to cover your baking dish.
2.) Grease an appropriately sized sheet of food-safe paper and secure it around the baking dish with string to mimic foil.
3.) Try a different recipe that doesn't require foil.
4.) Dine out.
5.) Ask a neighbor if you can borrow some foil.
6.) Go to the store and buy foil.

Perhaps other readers here will have additional suggestions.

Good luck.
