I have a question about the recipe "Fudgy Avocado Brownies" from Judith Rontal. How much avocado (either in weight or dry measure) is required for this recipe?
Look up USDA nutrition data base, which gives not only nutrients, but also portion sizes and average weight for foods as they are sold.
According to this (http://www.cooksinfo.com/avocado), 1 medium avocado is approximately 230 grams pitted, so that would be 460 grams for this recipe, or 1.5-2 cups mashed.
I'm pretty sure I've never seen an avocado that would yield that much volume mashed- maybe 1 cup.
Whoops, sorry for not being clear--the 1.5-2 cups mashed is for 2 avocados, so 3/4-1 cup mashed per avocado.
Where on earth did you get a density figure for avocado flesh?
