Cooked spinach

I did not wash my spinach before adding it to my soup. It is now cooking in the soup and completely wilted. Will it be safe to eat still? Is my whole soup ruined? Can I still eat the soup but take out the spinach? I feel like an idiot right now.

As long as your soup gets hot enough to kill any bacteria --140F, 60C for at least five minutes--the soup will be safe to eat. Depending on how it was packaged for sale, it might be gritty.

Thank you! The soup was boiling and simmering for about 10 minutes with the spinach in it, so I think it was cooked enough. Thanks for the answer!
