Oatmeal bread

following my mother inlaws recipe but so far after adding all the ingredients its a dry as sand , help me please

I assume this is an old fashioned yeast raised oatmeal bread? In that case, a fix is as simple as adding in additional liquid- warmed milk or water, enough to make the mixture moist enough to form a dough. It may be that your flour or oatmeal was simply drier than usual, which would mean more liquid would be needed. When you make bread, you often will find it necessary to adjust flour/liquid amounts depending on the humidity of your ingredients and kitchen. Just because the recipe calls for say 1 1/2 cups warm milk doesn't always mean it must use that much, or can't have more added in.
