Yellow split peas without oil or butter

Greetings everyone,
I hope I don't sound like a lost traveler looking for shelter in the warm answers I seek to receive, but I have a question about cookign yellow split peas.
I was wondering whether it is possible to cooke yellow split peas without using any type of oil product, such as plain oil or butter, since I am trying to avoid it completely. In fact since I am trying to pack on food in my refridgerator I am only interested in split peas without anything else necessarily.
Every site I have looked provide recipes that have oil in them.

Yes, you can cook yellow split peas without fat or other ingredients just as you would any dried bean, although there is no need to pre-soak split peas. Cover them in ample water and simmer until they are the texture you want. The longer they cook the softer and creamier they will be.
