Sour cream substitute

Can the sour cream in the icing be substituted with Greek yoghurt? I don't have any at hand but would love to give this cake a try.

If you have heavy cream and either lemon juice or white distilled vinegar, you could try making sour cream. 1 to 2 teaspoons of acid per cup of cream - it'll thicken as soon as you start whisking. It *might* work, if you need it more for flavor than texture.

I thought of doing this too but didn't think that the mixture would be thick enough for the frosting. Cream and vinegar have worked for me as a sour cream substitute in cakes so far but they do add a little extra moisture than intended

Hi! Full-fat Greek yogurt might work, though I haven’t tried this swap myself. I’d advise against low-fat or nonfat Greek yogurts, since they probably wouldn’t be rich enough for frosting. If you give it a go, please let me know what you think! I love this cake recipe so much.
