Thanks Lori and Smaug. Checked re the mooli, and you are correct. Makes much more sense now, and I probably should have thought of that, as I eat daikon. It is served in Japanese restaurants as a pickle here in Australia. Responses much appreciated.
I suspect what you have there is a typo, and the vegetable in question is "mooli", or a daikon radish. I may have also mispelled it, and I'm not sure which Indian language it comes from specifically. As daikons can be quite large in size, slicing such a small amount would make sense.
