using a sheet pan under a tart to bake

it would be easier to turn the tart half way if it were on a sheet pan. but the recipes i follow have me put the tart directly on the oven rack w/o anything underneath. has anyone put the tart directly on a sheet pan? what result? alternatively, i may buy a restauran-style spatula that i can get under the tart and turn it.

I'm a bit confused about the sort of tart you are describing. Some tarts are baked in a tart pan, others made free-form are usually made on a parchment sheet and baked on a sheet pan. I'm not familiar with any tart baked directly on the oven rack. I would think you could easily bake it directly on a sheet pan, or parchment paper. On a sheet pan it might take a bit longer to brown on the bottom- but not much.
