What is the substitute Malaysian ingredient for the cranberries.

It's an optional ingredient and it's only 1 tsp. So I think you can leave it out. If you want to try something a little sweet and tart, maybe a mango chutney like Major Grey's.

I'd guess something like tamarind paste, but it does seem like something the author could have mentioned.
