No beef mince for chilli con carne can I use meatballs?

Hi I went shops and forgot mince!! Can I break apart my uncooked beef meatballs or will that not work/affect flavour & texture? I normally precook the meat then bung it in slowcooker. I can't go shop as hubby has the car!
