Is soy paste and soy bean paste the same thing?

I recently found a recipe calling for soy paste. I am assuming it is thicker than soy sauce. In searching online for the product I am find a lot more options for soy bean paste. Is this the same thing?

Not necessarily. What is the recipe? Soybean paste could be just about anything (oh the vagaries of language). If you could tell us what you are making, we can try to point to the correct one :)
