The addition of filé? What are your thoughts?

Question, as while I love the cuisines of Louisiana, I have cooked them extremely rarely, but would you advise for or against the addition of filé? My stepfather I'm pretty sure would have used some.

Filé is actually sassafras...mix a tiny bit with some water taste it...
Always Louisiana used the Filé.
Sprinkle sparingly...tis also a thickener alike okra...but you wish it for taste.⚜️
